AKA, how many things can I see drop in one day? The answer is 4.
I’ve always been a fan of the kitschy, touristy things. So when I heard that PA does *A LOT* of random objects falling on New Year’s Eve, I knew my work was cut out for me. I made a list of the available ones, drew a route map, and then I went for it.
Starting off strong, I went to the Peep! The company that makes peeps (think: Easter candy) is based out of Bethlehem, PA.. not far! If you’ve followed along, I’ve been there a few times. The peep drops at promptly 5:30, but was a bit out of the way. So it was a drive by!
Then we travelled a bit to Dillsburg, PA. They do TWO pickle drops, one for the youngsters. I went ahead and went to the earlier one, held at the elementary school. The junior pickle fell!

On around the corner, I headed (for the first time) to Carlisle, PA! They drop a hot dog, in reverence to a local place named Hamilton’s restaurant that serves a “hotchee dog” ; a hot dog with chili and onions. The hot dog fell at 9.

Then I made my way over the big one! I went to Hershey, PA and made my way over to the kiss! A huge Hershey’s kiss goes up at midnight.. that’s right. UP! They raise it kind of the middle of the town and did a drone and light show. A concert was also involved but I spent most of the lead-up to it with a glass of white wine *INSIDE*

It was very much a fun night; distracting from the fact that it was another holiday away from everyone. I very much miss them.
Here’s to a this year being a better one. All round.
Until next time,
K., RN
