And to all a good night

By

Facing the holidays alone, with all of my family back home celebrating all together has been really difficult this year. Rather than stay in my little rental room – I got out for a bit.

I rented a room overnight in Bethlehem, PA at the Historic Hotel Bethlehem! It was quite swanky. I had a drink or two at the hotel bar (the Jingle Bar) and then went to the Moravian church across the street for a service.

I returned to the church hotel, had dinner which included a lobster Mac and cheese, hold the lobster. πŸ™‚ the waitress was absolutely precious and took great care of me while I was there. I did get a later checkout time as well.

I FaceTimed the fam this morning and got to see the tiny humans open presents from Santa. They had a good time. I took a micro-nap, and then woke up and got the show on the road!

I went to Washington Crossing, PA to watch the re-enactment of the Christmas Day crossing of the Delaware River by Washington (the famous painting? You know!).. well, the water was too low and they did not cross but they did fire some artillery as a consolation prize, I suppose. I got to meet a few of the re-enactors and then crossed on foot into New Jersey. So i can say that i walked all the way to New Jersey on Christmas Day!

I had originally had tickets to go on a ghost tour tonight, but decided to rain check them to a later date. Christmas, Washington, and several hours in a car was enough for the day. When I made it back to my rental room, I FaceTimed with my parents who came into my hometown for the next few days/into the weekend. One of the tiny humans is getting tonsils out tomorrow morning and it will absolutely crush me to not be there, but hopefully it all goes ok. She’s needed this for a while.

I hope everyone has had a delightful holiday, whatever you celebrate,
