Short update today: I made it back to the mid-Atlantic on Sunday. Sunday turned out to be the biggest holiday travel day in the United States. I had a mild flight delay due to fog, but made it back on time.
It was hard to leave my family again, especially the kiddos. They are resilient and are making adjustments. I just got my schedule for the rest of the month (December) and it doesn’t look like I’ll be able to go home for Christmas. I knew this was a possibility when applying, but it will still be hard.
I jumped right back in today and got my first real taste of charting in epic this afternoon. Going in for an early shift (6a-6p) tomorrow.
To welcome me back, there’s a nor’easter coming tomorrow. They’re predicting 3-5 inches. The South does NOT do snow. There is no salt available to spray on the roads. So tomorrow will be my first time to drive in REAL snow. I got out my puffy coat.
Have a lovely week,
K., RN
