I made it home on Sunday morning. My mom picked me up from the airport, and drove me back to her house. I slept in the house I grew up in for a good nap. When I woke up, I took a trip in to town for a little pampering and got my eyelashes done.
Tuesday, we had a fabulous auntie/niece/mimi day. I got to spend time with my oldest niece, A. She is a tween and it is fascinating to have real, grown up conversations with her. She’s a tiny human with opinions. I can’t believe how she’s grown in the last year. We had a pedicure and then had lunch at a new latin place in town. The girl loves empanadas and salads, and is being raised correctly. It’s also astonishing to see how much this town has grown since I’ve been away.
Tuesday evening, the best happened and my kiddos made it in. I gave them the biggest hug I could. I’ve missed them so much, I’ve only been gone two weeks and you’d think it had been a month. This is going to be so hard, especially next month. I don’t have my schedule past the 18th of December, so I’m not sure if I’m actually going to be able to make in back South then. Time will tell.
Wednesday, today, we had a great time. We met up at 11 and had pizza. We took the cousins (her kiddos and mine) to the children’s museum and to a gigantic playground. While we were having lunch, my oldest niece asked me if the taster of beer I got is “like a beer shot.” She also asked about my daith piercing. I’m the aunt with a few piercings and tattoos. I’m not like other aunts, I’m a cool aunt. (i’m also partial to think i’m a cool mom, too).
Tomorrow is the big day! We’re going over to Memaw’s and going to spend the day with second and third cousins. I’ll update again if anything more fun happens. Otherwise, back to the real world on Sunday.
